About the Poster
To commemorate the 2nd Crossroads Guitar Festival, held at Toyota Park, Chicago on July 28, 2007, a limited edition print was commissioned for sale at the event. The design is dominated by a resonator guitar surrounded by the names of the twenty-two performers. Train tracks lead back to a sunrise, a symbol of hope. The event is a benefit for Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Foundation.
Created by artists Chuck Sperry and Ron Donovan of Firehouse Kustom Rockart Co., the prints have been created in a limited edition of 1000, plate-signed by the graphic artists and numbered.
Before printing, each piece of paper in the edition were individually distressed and weathered by hand to give a wood-like texture, then carefully printed using traditional hand silk screening methods. The result is a handsome and striking design.
About the Artists
Firehouse Kustom Rockart Company’s works are easily recognizable by their unique style of color theory, characterized by the use of metallics over striking colors. They have created a body of work that is an eye-popping collection of the rock and roll posters and ephemera. The artists were also recognized and featured in the definitive book on the subject The Art of Modern Rock.
